John Schooler

John Schooler - Volunteer with Navigator Ministries

John Schooler volunteers with the Del Mar and Solana Beach Optimist Club and Navigator Ministries in the San Diego, California, area. He provides Bible-based instruction and guides prayer among Marines in boot camp at Camp Pendleton and the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. As Del Mar lifeguard lieutenant from 1983 to 1993, John Schooler delivered a host of life-saving services and parking and code enforcement.

Mr. Schooler received a County of San Diego commendation for his efforts on behalf of the Coastal Emergency Task Force. He also received a commendation from a local physician for handling a situation involving a child with congenital heart arrhythmia. The local Optimist Club recognized Mr. Schooler for saving seven teens caught in a rip current.

A former advanced first aid and CPR instructor, Mr. Schooler possesses experience as a volunteer firefighter with the Copper Mountain Fire Department in Colorado. He was a first responder in medical emergencies and traffic accidents. Mr. Schooler also served on the Copper Mountain Ski Area Ski Patrol, using skiing and rescue toboggan skills to ensure the safety of resort patrons. He also trained in avalanche control and chairlift evacuation.
